Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi dan tantangan yang dihadapi oleh tutor dalam mengajar keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris di British English Course (BEC) Camp di Sungai Penuh, Kerinci. Metode kualitatif deskriptif digunakan, dengan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Partisipan adalah dua tutor berpengalaman yang telah mengajar minimal tiga tahun. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan tema utama. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa tutor menggunakan strategi seperti pelatihan gerakan mulut untuk pengucapan dan penerapan lingkungan "Area Bahasa Inggris" yang imersif. Tutor juga menyesuaikan metode pengajaran mereka berdasarkan kemampuan dan kepribadian siswa. Tantangan yang dihadapi meliputi faktor internal seperti kecemasan dan kurangnya kepercayaan diri, dan faktor eksternal seperti interferensi bahasa lokal dan kelancaran berbahasa yang terbatas. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya pendekatan yang personal dan fleksibel dalam mengajar keterampilan berbicara untuk mendukung perkembangan bahasa siswa secara efektif.
